Enjoying Granada, Nicaragua

We just arrived in Granada, Nicaragua this afternoon. We needed to leave Costa Rica to start our three month tourist visa over so we don't have to leave during the first trimester of school. Granada is a very beautiful Spanish Colonial town. We went to the center of town and bought some souvenirs. Dan bought some pottery with 20 Nicaraguan Cordobas, 1000 Costa Rican Colones and 10 American Dollars. Sounds confusing but it all worked. Cristen and Dustin love it here.

Pictures of where we live.

We have been living in Paso Marcos Costa Rica. We are about an hour from Turrialba and three hours from San Jose. This area will be our future home upon completing language school in about a year.

As you can see the morning are spectacular. This is the view towards the driveway leading into the "Homestead".

This is where we live. It has several rooms for guests to stay when visiting. There is a large family room in the center. Half of the rooms have a scenic view of the Pacuare River.

When the Cabecar Indians are visiting, they have a place to stay as well. The inside is very typical to what their homes would be like but with a few modifications.


One last picture from one of my favorite spots in Paso Marcos. It is about a 20 minutes walk up the hill for this wonderous vantage point. The river running through the picture is the Pacuare River mentioned above.

Plantains

Dustin had his first lesson on the proper way of cutting plantains off the tree. Last week he pruned all of the trees with his new machete. There are over 300 plantain trees on the the property in Paso Marcos.

Our first month in Costa Rica

We've been in Costa Rica for a little over a month now. It's been amazing so far. The food is great and the fruit drinks are even better.

We had the opportunity to go on a trip into the Cabecar Reservation for 12 days to build the foundations of two foot bridges over the rivers in the area. It was a blessing to meet and work alongside some of the people we will later be ministering to after we finish school. Please look at the slideshow at the bottom of the page.

Right now we are in Paso Marcos catching up on laundry, doing house work and enjoying the blessings of living in such a beautiful place. We have two friends coming from the States for a visit on April 15th. We can't wait to see them! On April 20th we will be moving into our rental house in the city. School starts on April 29th. Please pray for us as we adjust to living in the city and that we'll rely on God's strength to learn Spanish.
